Fall 2026 Microgrants

Small grants to help the Jewish nonprofit sector move gender equity work forward.

Creating Jewish workplaces where safety, respect, and equity are lived realities takes ongoing, intentional work. Sometimes, a small investment can help an organization take a meaningful next step: strengthening a policy, investing in a leader, bringing in needed expertise, piloting a new program, or removing a barrier to participation.

SRE Network Microgrants provide flexible funding for organizations ready to put ideas into action and advance gender equity within Jewish communal workplaces.

This fall, SRE Network will award 25 microgrants of $2,000 each, investing $50,000 in organizations across the field.

Applications will be reviewed after the application period closes and selected based on how closely proposed projects align with SRE Network’s focus areas.

Microgrant Project Areas

Proposed projects must align with one or more of the following areas

Strengthening Systems of Harm Prevention and Response

Safe, respectful workplaces are the foundation of a thriving Jewish communal landscape. Organizations must be equipped to prevent harm*, respond with care when harm occurs, and build accountability across their communities.

Project Ideas: Strengthening policies and reporting systems, staff training, improving organizational responses to harm, or developing resources that help workplaces put safety, respect, and accountability into practice.

*Harm, as SRE defines it: discrimination or abuse in any form — actions, comments, or policies, whether intentional or unintentional, that communicate hostile, derogatory, or negative messages targeting people based on their marginalized group identity.

Advancing Diverse Women’s+ Leadership

Equitable leadership drives stronger, more inclusive organizations. Increasing the representation and support of women and other underrepresented leaders is essential for a thriving Jewish communal landscape that reflects its diversity.

Project Ideas: Leadership development or coaching, addressing barriers to advancement, strengthening leadership pipelines, or creating opportunities for women to connect, learn, and lead.

+When we speak about women, we do so with an understanding of gender as diverse and expansive, inclusive of anyone who identifies as a woman, trans women, as well as nonbinary individuals for whom this work resonates.

Mobilizing Men as Partners

Lasting culture change requires shared responsibility. Men hold significant influence in many Jewish communal organizations, and their active participation is critical to dismantling harmful power dynamics and fostering equitable leadership and workplaces.

Project Ideas: Equip men with tools for allyship and sponsorship, create opportunities for learning and accountability, or engage male leaders in advancing gender equity within their organizations and communities.

Rooting Our Core Values in Jewish Wisdom

Safety, respect, and equity are more than organizational best practices — they are deeply Jewish values. Jewish texts and teachings can reinforce the values at the heart of this work and help communities ground their efforts in something deeper.

Project Ideas: Use Jewish learning, texts, rituals, or other resources to deepen organizational understanding of safety, respect, equity, dignity, and shared responsibility.

Reporting Requirements

Recipients of SRE Network Microgrants agree to:

Spend the funds within one year of the grant approval date.
Complete a one-time report within 30 days of project completion:
- A narrative update describing the project’s objectives, results achieved, and any challenges encountered or lessons learned
- Copies of any publications or media generated as a result of this funding, if available
- Photos or additional media, as available

Eligibility

To be eligible, your organization must:

Be a current member* of SRE Network (Not yet a member? You can join SRE and then apply for a microgrant.)
Be a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization or operate under the fiscal sponsorship of a 501(c)(3).*
Serve Jewish communal professionals.
Propose a project directed toward Jewish communal professionals.
Plan to complete the project in North America within one year of receiving funds.

*Past SRE Network grant and microgrant recipients are welcome to apply.

A brief online application is required. We have intentionally kept the application short and straightforward so organizations can spend less time applying and more time focused on the work itself.

Applications open October 19 at 9:00 am ET and close November 6, 2026 at 11:59 pm ET. Applications will be reviewed after the application period closes and selected based on how closely proposed projects align with the project areas.

What Can a Microgrant Make Possible?

Our first round of microgrants in spring 2026 showed us just how much organizations can do with a small, yet focused investment.

Across the Jewish communal sector, organizations are using SRE Microgrants to strengthen leaders, improve workplace systems, expand access and belonging, develop new resources, and create safer and more equitable organizational cultures.
