In early 2024, we held a two-part series to help members learn how they can maximize their experience with SRE, connect with staff and other members, and explore how SRE's Standards can guide their organizations toward healthier workplace cultures.

SRE Network Essentials

Deepening Your Safety, Respect, & Equity Journey

This event took place on Wednesday, January 31, 2024 at 11 am PT/2 pm ET. 

This session brought together seasoned SRE Network Members and those just learning about the organization to dive deep into all things Safety, Respect, and Equity. Together with the SRE Network team, we,
  • Explored how SRE can support your organization as it addresses critical cultural challenges;
  • Discovered all of the benefits you can access as a SRE Network Member or Affiliate;
  • Learned how your organization can maximize its experience with SRE.
Attendees had the chance to ask questions and connect with other members as they deepened their journeys towards healthier Jewish communal workplaces.This session was intended for current and prospective SRE Network Members, Affiliates, and partners.

Speakers

Andrea Deck: Senior Program Officer
Andrea (she/her) is the Senior Program Officer at SRE Network. She is a community network developer and grantmaker, who has worked to scale programs and organizations internally and through grantmaking with a focus on impact evaluation.

Shaina Wasserman: Interim Executive Director & Senior Director of Strategic Operations
Shaina (she/her) serves as the Interim Executive Director & Senior Director of Strategic Operations at SRE Network. She is an experienced Jewish educator and senior leader with over 20 years of experience in Jewish communal institutions across the country. .

Samantha Weil: Senior Community Manager
Samantha (she/her) is the Senior Community Manager at SRE Network. She has dedicated her time to helping leaders and organizations become more powerful agents of change.

SRE Network Standards

Your Roadmap to Safe, Respectful, and Equitable Workplaces

This event took place on Wednesday, February 28, 2024 at11 am PT/2 pm ET.

Together with Dr. Guila Benchimol, SRE Network Senior Advisor on Research and Learning, participants learned how SRE Network’s Standards For Creating Safe, Respectful and Equitable Jewish Workplaces and Communal Spaces can serve as an inspiring roadmap for their organizations' safety, respect, and equity work.

Attendees deepened their understanding of each of the Standards’ focus areas (leadership & accountability, policies & guidelines, reporting & response, and education & training), and had the opportunity to ask questions. This session provided participants with the knowledge, support, and motivation to chart their organization’s next steps on its journey to creating a positive and accountable workplace.

This session was intended for current and prospective SRE Network Members and Affiliates.

Speaker

Dr. Guila Benchimol, SRE Network Senior Advisor on Research and Learning
Dr. Guila Benchimol (she/her/hers) was one of the key advisors who guided SRE Network’s launch in early 2018. As a researcher and public educator on sexual violence, she has crafted standards and policies for Jewish workplaces, institutions, and communal spaces and has been invited to address Jewish and other faith communities across Canada and the US. Guila is also trained in restorative and transformative justice facilitation. Guila holds a PhD in Sociological Criminology and an MA in Criminology and Criminal Justice Policy from the University of Guelph in Ontario, Canada.
